                                 LA PAZ CHRISTMAS - con't

December 23, 2003

Todos Santos

We decided to take a road trip to Todos Santos, which is about a 2 hour drive south down the Pacific side of the Baja coast. Chris from Twix came with us. Pictured here is Chris and Chris when we stopped in the town for lunch.

Hotel California

We had to check out the famous

"Hotel California"
in Todos Santos.

Surfing Beach

After a few wrong turns, we finally found the surfing beach, Pescadero. The site was spectacular with an endless sandy beach reaching out to meet the clear blue Pacific waters. There were campers, RVs and tents on the beach but not much  in the way of facilities.

Although Chris from Twix had brought along his surf board, stuffed in the back seat of the rental car, the waves looked quite ominous so the boys opted for boogie boards instead.

It's Christmas Eve.

Many of us have decorated our boats with Christmas lights so the docks look very festive and everyone is in the Christmas spirit, despite the 80 degree temps. Downtown La Paz is decorated too, an impressive nativity scene and, of course, Christmas lights on the palm trees.

December 25

Can you believe we had Christmas breakfast in the cockpit of Ascension wearing shorts! See our little Christmas tree that we managed to acquire, leftover from the table decorations at the Christmas Party. We opened presents and had a quiet day relaxing.

Christmas Potluck Dinner

The cruisers at our dock all got together for a Potluck Christmas dinner with turkey, complete with all the trimmings. Most of the 35 sailors were Canadians whom we have been traveling with for the past 4 months.

It was a great meal with Gary and Dale. (Reaction)

The supper was delicious with lots to eat and a good variety.

December 26

With much sadness, we drove Chris to the airport and said farewell. I was happy we had time together and look forward to our next visit. It's always so hard to say goodbye. I hope his holiday gives him new energy to face the school year ahead.
