ST. BARTS, CARIBBEAN

Gustavia

February 9

We left Jolly Harbor at 4 am before the wind got too strong. Our sail was uneventful and we arrived at the anchorage mid afternoon. The anchorage was rather rolly so we headed to the main town of Gustavia to check in and find another "cheeseburger in paradise."

A walk along the road revealed interesting red roofed houses, their dormers protruding from the steep graded tiles. The town has a charming atmosphere, quiet and unassuming.

Anse Columbiere

We enjoyed St. Barts area but the anchorage finally drove us out, as we could no longer tolerate the rolling. We sailed to the end of the island and dropped the hook in a beautiful tranquil bay of Anse Columbiere. Flat calm and so lovely, we wished we could stay longer but the weather dictated our schedule, so we departed for St. Martin the following morn.
