The chain of islands is populated by The Arawaks, who
emigrated from South America over 1,000 years ago, the Caribs, Africans and
Europeans. Each community has different cultures that contribute to the heritage
of the islands
-- steel pan, calypso fungi, reggae
and gospel.
Local artists and artisans display their work in rattan, terracotta and wicker.
We enjoyed foods such as conch, West Indian roti, Johnny cakes, exotic rum
drinks, and many specialties influenced from European,
African and Indian cuisine.
